Cecilia Carretero and Dana Pollard, both in their second year of competition for the MJC Track & Field team have decided to attend Cal State East Bay on a partial athletic scholarship.
Pollard who finished 7th in the state in 2014 in the 3000m steeplechase is currently ranked second in the state in that event. Dana plans on majoring in Kinesiology at CSU East Bay and has plans of applying for a graduate physical therapy program.
Carretero will be majoring in Nutrition and would like to focus on athletes as well as the general population.
Both athletes were all-Big 8 Conference in cross country as well as in track and field. Both athletes were part of the 2013 NorCal Championship Cross Country team. Dana has a personal best in the steeple of 11:26, and Cecilia has a personal best 5k of 18:40.
See both of these athletes compete at home at the Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Big 8 Championships hosted by MJC on Monday, April 25th and Thursday, April 28th .
