MJC Academic Calendars

Please note: Students may use the college's web-based registration system called PiratesNet to add or drop classes. The system is available daily from 6:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. The semester dates listed below are for Full-Term classes only.  Please see your printed student class schedule for Short-Term or Late-Start deadline dates.

January 1: New Year's Day

January 10: Flex/In-Service Day

January 11: Flex Day

January 14: Spring Classes Begin

January 18: Last day to add w/o instructor approval (CC)

January 21: Martin L. King Jr. Day

January 27: Last day to add w/o dean approval (MJC)

January 28: Census Day

February 10: No penalty drop

February 11: Last day to apply for a refund for classes dropped by 1/27 (MJC)

February 15: Lincoln Day

February 16-17: Non-Instructional days

February 18: Washington day

March 8: Last day to file for Graduation & Certificates for Summer and Fall 2013 (CC)

March 8: File for Commencement (MJC)

April 8:  Last day to withdraw from Full-Term Classes* in the Admissions Office (5 pm on East and West Campus), or PiratesNet. You may drop classes using PiratesNet until 11:00 pm on April 8th.

April 29 - May 4:  Final Examinations

May 3:  Graduation at 6pm

May 4: Spring Classes End

 

Summer '13

During the summer (May 6- August 16), MJC is closed on Fridays. Our summer hours are Monday - Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

April 8: Summer Registration date and time available on PiratesNet for Continuing students.

April 15: Priority web registration by appointment for EOPS/DSPS/TRIO/Veterans/Athletes/Foster Youth/FYE

April 16-April 24: Priority web registration by appointment for continuing students

April 25 - April 29:  Priority web registration by appointment for new and returning students. (Date and Time determined based on date Admissions Application is received).

April 30:  Priority web registration by appointment for continuing high school students.

May 1- May 2:  Priority web registration by appointment for new and returning high school students.

May 27:  Memorial Day Holiday

May 6: Summer classes begin. For late start classes, check the PiratesNet searchable schedule.

For last day to drop classes and file Pass/No Pass please see your class schedule which is available via PiratesNet. You may drop classes using the online system until 11 p.m.

 July 4: Independence Day Holiday

Aug 16: Semester Ends!

*IMPORTANT NOTE: A full-term class is any class that begins May 30 and ends August 11. A short-term class is any class that does not meet the full-term class definition. Students can register at their scheduled registration date & time or any time thereafter during scheduled registration hours until the day before the class begins. 

Fall '13

July 10:  Priority Web Registration by appointment for EOPS/DSPS/TRIO/Veterans/Athletes/Foster Youth/FYE

July 11-August 8:  Priority Web Registration by appointment for Continuing Students

August 12-15:  Priority registration for New and Returning students.

August 19:  Priority registration for Continuing High School students.

August 20-21:  Priority registration for New High School students.

August 26: Fall classes begin (students who have not registered should attend class & ask instructor for an add card)

August 27-September 9: Applications will be accepted WITH an Add Card from instructor

September 2: Holiday - Labor Day

September 9: Last day to withdraw from full-term class without a "W" in the Admissions Office until 5 p.m.

September 9: Last day to add Full-Term Classes on the web

September 9: Last day to drop Full-Term classes without a "W" online. You may drop classes using the system until 11:00 pm

September 23: Last day to file "Request for Refund" for classes dropped by September 9

September 24: Last day to file for Pass/No Pass for Full-Term Classes

November 11: Holiday - Veteran's Day observed 

November 14: Last day to withdraw from Full-Term Classes* in the Admissions Office (5 pm on East and West Campus), or PiratesNet. You may drop classes using PiratesNet until 11:00 pm on November 14th.

November 28 - 29:  (Thur/Fri) Holiday - Thanksgiving

December 9 - December 13: Final Examinations

December 14: Semester Ends

Spring '14

Jan 13: Spring classes begin (students who have not registered should attend class & ask instructor for an add card)

January 13 - January 27: Applications will be accepted WITH an Add Card from instructor

January 20: Holiday - Martin Luther King Jr.

January 27: Last day to add Full-Term Classes in person without Division Deans Signature 

January 27:  Last day to add Full-Term Classes on the web (Census Date)

January 27: Last day to drop Full-Term classes online and be eligible for a refund.  To drop online you must have a zero dollar balance. You may drop classes using the system until 11:00 pm

January 27: Last day to withdraw from Full-Term Classes without a "W" using PiratesNet.  You must have a zero dollar balance to drop online.  You may drop classes using the system until 11:00 pm

February 10: Last day to file "Request for Refund" for classes dropped by January 27th. 

February 14-17: (Fri/Mon) Holiday - Lincoln's & Washington's Birthday

February 18: Last day to file for Pass/No Pass for Full-Term Classes

March 7: Last day to apply for Associate Degree/Certificate for Spring 2013 to have name in commencement program

April 7: Last day to withdraw from Full-Term Classes* in the Admissions Office (5 pm on East and West Campus), or PiratesNet. You may drop classes using PiratesNet until 11:00 pm on April 8th.

April 28- May 2: Final Examinations

May 2: Last day to apply for Associate degree/Certificate for Spring 2014

May 2: Graduation 6pm

May 3: Semester Ends
