Fall Science Colloquium offer variety of timely topics
The Modesto Junior College Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Division will again offer a series of Science Colloquium sessions for the fall 2010 semester. The free mini-seminars are offered on a wide variety of timely topics under the theme of "Science That Matters". The series of short, informal presentation are usually held on Tuesdays, 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. in Science 208 on East Campus, with the exception of Wednesday, October 13, which will be held in Forum 110. All sessions are open to the public and admission is free.more >>

MJC offers men's Modesto 6 on 6 Soccer Tournament
Modesto Junior College will host the Modesto 6 on 6 Soccer Tournament on Saturday, July 31 and Sunday, August 1 at the MJC West Campus Soccer Field on Blue Gum Ave. The team registration fee for this two-day, men's open tournament is $300 with early registration before July 26 at $240. The final registration deadline is July 28. The minimum age for participation is 18 during this current calendar year and participants are guaranteed three games. A tri-tip and linguini barbeque will be available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for $5, with proceeds from both the BBQ and tournament benefitting the MJC Men's Soccer Team. more >>

Summer Soccer Camp for Youth offered at MJC
Modesto Junior College will be offering Summer Soccer Camp for youth ages 5 -18 at all levels of play. The Soccer Camp will be held 9 a.m. to 12 noon from Monday, July 19 through Thursday, July 22 at the MJC Soccer Field on West Campus, 2201 Blue Gum Avenue in Modesto. more >>

MJC Foundation to hold Summer Sonata fundraiser on July 15
The Modesto Junior College Foundation will hold the 14th annual "Summer Sonata" on Thursday, July 15 at the Gallo Center for the Arts in downtown Modesto. The elegant evening features food by Appetez Restaurant, fine wine and music. The event begins with a reception at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m., and a silent auction will be held throughout the event.more >>

Summer football camps for youth offered at MJC

Summer Tennis Camps for youth offered at MJC
Modesto Junior College will be offering Summer Tennis Camps for youths at all levels of play. The first two sessions for boys and girls will be held June 14 - 17 and the next two camp sessions will be held July 12 - 15. All camps will be held on the MJC Tennis Courts located on East Campus. Each of the four-day youth tennis camps will emphasize ways players can improve their game by teaching the key fundamentals of tennis to the beginners and skill building for intermediate and advanced players. more >>

Docs Play the Pops Concert at MJC on May 23
Medical professionals are putting on a music recital entitled "Docs Play the Pops V" on Sunday, May 23, 2010, at 2 p.m. in the Modesto Junior College Auditorium on East Campus, 435 College Avenue. The concert program will include a diverse genre of music, ranging from popular music to classical. Tickets are $12 for general admission, $10 for students and seniors, and may be purchased in advance online at http://mjc.tix.com and at the door for 90 minutes before the performance. more >>

Dedication Ceremony planned for Dave Ashleigh Aquatic Center
Modesto Junior College invites the community to a Dedication Ceremony for the Dave Ashleigh Aquatic Center on Saturday, May 22 at 2 p.m., poolside on MJC's East Campus. The ceremony will recognize Ashleigh for his contributions as an outstanding MJC faculty member and coach for swimming and water polo by naming the pool complex in his honor. The dedication is free and open to the public. Reservations are requested for the Fundraiser Barbecue that will follow the ceremony, which can be made for $35 through the MJC Foundation Office, (209) 575-6619. MJC Theatre presents New Play Fest
The Modesto Junior College Theatre Department will present the New Play Fest 2010 on May 14, 15, 21 and 22 at 7:30 p.m. and on May 16 and 23 at 2 p.m. in the Little Theatre of the Performing and Media Arts Center on East Campus. Commencement Ceremony to be held April 30
Modesto Junior College will hold its 88th Commencement Ceremony on Friday, April 30, 2010, at 6 p.m. in the College Stadium on the East Campus. A reception for MJC graduates and their guests will be held following the graduation ceremony in the Student Center Rotunda.
