Pharmacy Tech Curriculum

The class consists of over 634 hours of classroom and hands-on learning: 294 hours of classroom and laboratory time and 340 hours of externship at various facilities.

Classes will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, to allow working students the opportunity to train for a new career.

Students will need to purchase a daily $2.00 parking pass of at any Day Pass Machine (DPM) available in most parking lots. Please click on for campus maps.

Tuition Fees: $6,363

  • All textbooks, lab coat, background check, drug screening, insurance and BLS certification.
  • National PTCB exam fees and National Pharmacy Tech Association membership fees.
  • Students must pass drug screen and background check to be placed in externship site.

How to Obtain a Background Check: Please click on this link to the Castle Branch website and follow these instructions to obtain the required background check.and follow these instructions to obtain the required background check.

  1. Place Order
  2. Select program
  3. Click on Background check only
  4. Check you have read (twice)
  5. Fill in information
  6. Pay fees
  7. Submit background application

The required background check should take 3-5 business days. Once you are notified you have passed, complete your Pharmacy Tech. or Phlebotomy application.

Application Process

Read and Meet pre-requisites


AP 50: Anatomy and Physiology (3 units) or equivalent


    • Successful completion of math entrance exam
    • 90 minute exam - calculators allowed.
    • Prepare to show your photo I.D.
    • Study guide (sample test) and answers are available (see below).
    • This math test will use Pharmaceutical Calculations (review pre-algebra - fractions, ratios, decimals, percentages).


    • Must take the MJC Reading Accuplacer test and place at Reading 82 or higher, OR 
    • Successfully complete Reading 82 or higher with a "C" or higher, OR
    • Possess an AA degree or higher from a U.S. College.

Please Note: Your application will not be accepted for recommendation unless you have met these requirements, so it is highly recommended that you complete the assessment testing promptly.
