Deferred Action (DACA)

What is it?

  • Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. A Department of Homeland Security policy change in -how it exercises its authority.

Who is eligible? An individual may be eligible if he/she:

  • Came to the US before reaching 16th birthday
  • Continuously resided in the US from June 15, 2007 up to the present
  • Was under the age of 31 as of June 15, 2012
  • Entered the US without inspection before June 15, 2012 or his/her lawful immigration status -expired as of June 15, 2012
  • Is currently in school, has graduated or obtained a certificate of completion from high school, has obtained a GED or is an honorably discharged veteran of the Coast Guard or Armed Forces of the US
  • Has not been convicted of a felony, significant misdemeanor, or three or more misdemeanors, and does not otherwise pose a threat to the community or national security
  • Was present in the United States on June 15, 2012 and has not left the country since
