Individuals planning on attending Modesto Junior College must submit an admission application at  Students must wait until the application is processed before testing.  Test at least ten days prior to registering for classes.  All students need to visit a counselor after assessing.  Assessment is free; however, other testing services offered by the Testing Center may require a fee.

Why Test?

  • Assessment is one of the CORE steps to receive priority registration.
  • Testing allows college personnel to help you select appropriate courses.
  • Testing may be used to satisfy certain course prerequisites.

NOTE: Most math and English Composition courses require assessment or prerequisite course completion.  Being exempt from testing does not release the student from any prerequisite requirements a course may require.

What Tests are Offered:

The Accuplacer test is given for English, Reading, Math and credit ESL assessment.  It is an untimed online test that gives you an immediate English or ESL, reading and math placement.  The CASAS test is given for non-credit ESL classes. It is a paper/pencil exam and results may take up to 72 hours to be processed.
