On behalf of the staff of Disability Services & Programs for Students (DSPS), we are pleased to have this opportunity to Welcome you to Modesto Junior College (MJC). It is our sincere hope that all of your goals are realized during your attendance here. MJC is dedicated to servicing the community, and we provide an innovative college experience for students. Modesto Junior College is known for popular academic programs, noteworthy college activities, athletics, and for special facilities that cater to top academic programs.
MJC is committed to transforming lives through programs and services informed by the latest scholarship of teaching and learning. The DSPS dedicated staff and faculty provide several accommodations and services, including test-taking facilitation, specialized counseling, interpreter services, scribes, and alternate media services. Several resources on the DSPS website is designed with you in mind, and we invite you to explore the amenities we have for you.
The DSPS team has an efficient and friendly office staff that can answer your questions
and provide you with the help you need. The Office serves both prospective and current
students who have documented disabilities and request services.
The DSPS front office staff assists students with the application process by phone and in person. They schedule appointments for advising, assist with student concerns, answer questions regarding DSPS programs and services offered, testing accommodations, priority registration, and more.
DSPS also has staff that are testing administrators for course related quizzes and exams given to qualifying students. Testing accommodations can include extra time, reading and writing assistance, and enlarged print. Tests must be arranged four days in advance, and tests requested for a different day or time are only with instructor approval. The Testing Center on the East Campus is located in Journalism Building, Room 155, and on West Campus Yosemite Hall, Room 115A.
To be considered for DSPS, please complete and submit the application packet including the verification of disability to the East Campus DSPS office in Student Services Building 112.

Late Arrival Notice
To allow for sufficient time in the counseling appointments, it will be considered
a NO SHOW after a:
• 5-minute late arrival to a 30-minute appointment
• 10-minute late arrival to a 1-hour appointment
• 10-minute late arrival to a learning disability testing appointment
After a student is a NO SHOW, it is the counselor's discretion to take the next student
that is waiting,
complete paperwork, or leave the office to conduct business.
