Announcement: New Assessment Options Coming Soon!

New tools are coming for students to prepare for initial assessment & for skill refreshment in advance of reassessments.  Utilizing these tools may eliminate the 60 day waiting period for reassessment.

Current Reassessment Requirements:

  • Only one retest is allowed
  • Reassessing for English, Reading, Math and ESL requires a 60 day waiting period
  • You may not retest if you have already attended an English, ESL or Math class--even if you withdrew or failed
  • For math retest it is recommended you take Math 47, which is designed to strengthen your existing math skills, before you retest

Understanding the Prerequisite Challenge Process

The prerequisite challenge process is for students who want a higher class and wish to challenge a class they feel is below their skill level.  Students who do not agree with their English, Math, or ESL placement recommendation cannot enroll into a higher level class without either retesting (if available) or submitting a prerequisite challenge.

Prerequisite challenge forms can be obtained by visiting division offices:

  • Literature and Language Division (East Campus, Founders Hall Room 200), OR
  • Science/Math/Engineering Division (West Campus, Science Community Center, Room 134)

Challenging a prerequisite does not mean your request is automatically approved.
