Dear Modesto Junior College Faculty,

As I walked through my backyard orchard on Saturday morning looking for a piece of fruit to enjoy with breakfast, for the first time in weeks, I found bare apricot, pluot, and peach trees. But annually, with the disappearance of stone fruit comes the ripening of delicious Pink Lady apples. I ate one apple, tossed the core to the chickens, and then enjoyed a second apple. The ripening of new fruit signals the changing of seasons and new things to come.

Welcome to the Fall 2024 semester! As we embark on this new academic journey together, let us remember the incredible impact we have on each of the 17,961 students we serve. Take a moment to appreciate that number.  17,961 students are depending on us today. Your dedication, passion, and commitment to education inspire not only your students but also your colleagues and the entire community.

This semester let’s strive to create an environment where curiosity thrives, creativity flourishes, and every student feels valued and supported. Embrace the challenges and celebrate the successes, knowing that each step forward is a step towards a brighter future for our students.

Thank you for your unwavering dedication and for being the guiding lights that lead our students towards their dreams. Let’s make this semester one of growth, inspiration, and achievement.

Wishing you all a fantastic and fulfilling semester ahead!

Warm Regards,
Patrick
