On behalf of the staff of Accommodations and Support Center (ASC), we are pleased to have this opportunity to Welcome you to Modesto Junior College (MJC). It is our sincere hope that all of your goals are realized during your attendance here. MJC is dedicated to servicing the community, and we provide an innovative college experience for students. Modesto Junior College is known for popular academic programs, noteworthy college activities, athletics, and for special facilities that cater to top academic programs.

MJC is committed to transforming lives through programs and services informed by the latest scholarship of teaching and learning. The ASC dedicated staff and faculty provide several accommodations and services, including test-taking facilitation, specialized counseling, interpreter services, scribes, and alternate media services. Announcements

Students are required to schedule a meeting with a counselor to obtain an accommodations form for the current semester. It is recommended that students make an appointment before the semester begins by calling (209)575-6225.

Summer 2024 semester – May 13 to August 16.

Fall 2024 semester – August 26 to December 13.

Students with a current semester ID card can ride MAX and StanRTA buses for free. See StanRTA Routes & Schedules.

Our ASC Faculty & Staff

The ASC team has an efficient and friendly office staff that can answer your questions and provide you with the help you need. The Office serves both prospective and current students who have documented disabilities and request services. The ASC front office staff assists students with the application process by phone and in person. They schedule appointments for advising, assist with student concerns, answer questions regarding ASC programs and services offered, testing accommodations, priority registration, and more. ASC also has staff that are testing administrators for course related quizzes and exams given to qualifying students. Testing accommodations can include extra time, reading and writing assistance, and enlarged print. Tests must be arranged four days in advance, and tests requested for a different day or time are only with instructor approval. The Testing Center on the East Campus is located in Journalism Building, Room 155, and on West Campus Yosemite Hall, Room 115A.

To be considered for ASC, please complete and submit the application packet including the verification of disability to the East Campus ASC office in Student Services Building 112.

  1. Steps to Become an ASC Student
  2. Verification of Disability (fillable form, must be completed by your doctor/therapist and submitted with your application) OR submit a digital copy of your IEP from high school. You can bring a paper copy to the ASC office. 
  3. Complete ASC Application Packet (log in with your MJC student email address and password)
  4. Complete California Voter's Registration Statement
  5. Student Information Release Authorization (fillable form)
    After completing the release of information, email the form as an attachment to: mjcasc@yosemite.edu

Appointment Information Guidelines

Bringing Children to Appointment

Due to learning disability testing being conducted in our office, please do not bring children with you for a counseling appointment.

Late Arrival Notice

To ensure sufficient time for counseling appointments, any arrival beyond a specified time will be considered a NO SHOW.

  • 5-minute late arrival to a 30-minute appointment
  • 10-minute late arrival to a 1-hour appointment
  • 10-minute late arrival to a learning disability testing appointment

If a student arrives late to an appointment, it is at the counselor's discretion to see the student, and a reschedule might be necessary.

Service Animals

Service animals are permitted on campus. A service animal is a dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for a person with a disability. Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the American with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The Yosemite Community College District will allow an individual with a disability to use a service animal in district facilities in compliance with state and federal law. Please refer to YCCD Policy on Service Animals.

Voter Registration

ASC is a registration site where students have the opportunity to become registered voters. There is no obligation to register to vote and the student's decision will have no effect on services offered by ASC.

Alternate Media Requests

Who needs to make an appointment?

  • Students that need assistance in requesting materials for a semester
  • Students learning assistive software technologies (must be approved by ASC counselor)
  • Students needing further assistance with software

Who does NOT need to make an appointment?

(Please note that you may have to wait if there is another student being helped)

  • Students requesting assistive equipment (must be approved by a ASC counselor)
  • Students picking up and dropping off loaned equipment
  • Students dropping off a receipt as proof of book rental or purchase
  • Student updating a request form
  • Students dropping off hard copy of materials to be converted into an accessible format

Suffering from Anxiety or feeling Overwhelmed? Mental health services are free to MJC students. Schedule an appointment with an MJC provider by calling: 209-575-6281 from 7:30am to 12:00pm or 209-575-6038 from 12:30pm to 5pm. Students can also receive 24/7 support link to TimelyCare

Modesto Junior College will be using an online application process. All eligible students will receive an email requesting they complete the online application via the Student Financial Services Electronic Data Submission (EDS) portal.
