Welcome to MJC, Pirate. This page includes information on how to complete the enrollment
process. If you've already completed the application and received your student email
address, you can move on to applying for financial aid.
Who is Eligible?
Any person who meets at least one of the following requirements is eligible to attend
Modesto Junior College:
Has graduated from an accredited high school; includes students who have received
high school certificates of completion (or equivalent) but did not pass the California
High School Exit Exams.
Has passed the CA High School Proficiency Exam or the GED test.
Is a non-high school graduate, 18 years of age or older, who is no longer attending
high school and is able to benefit from instruction.
Is a 7th-12th grade student, who is at least 13 years old, who has met all established
special conditions for admission as a special student and has written permission from
the high school principal (or junior high superintendent) and parent or legal guardian.
An international student who has completed the international student admission procedure.
Apply to MJC
Visit OpenCCC Apply (o aplicar en Español). This is a common application used by all California Community Colleges. You will
need to create an account or log into an existing account if you already have one.
Answer all questions regarding legal name and Social Security or Taxpayer Identification
Number.
Complete each area, moving through the sections of the application. Once you see a
green check mark on all sections, you will be able to submit your application.
Call or chat with us if you need any assistance with the application.
Please expect several emails after completing your application. Within 3 business
days, you should receive an email with your student ID number. If it's your first
time applying, you will also receive one with a link to your email.
Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) is college credit awarded for validated college-level
skills and knowledge gained outside of a college classroom. Students’ knowledge and
skills might be gained through experiences such as:

Helpful tips!
A social security number is NOT needed when you apply. If you have a DACA social security
number of you have an ITIN you may report it.
Complete the California Dream Act Application (CADAA).
