Program Overview
This A.S. degree is designed as a University Preparation, Emphasis in Chemistry. The
University Preparation Degree, distinctive of the University Preparation "pathway,"
is designed to prepare you for transfer to a California State University (CSU) or
University of California (UC) campus. Chemistry is the branch of physical science
that deals with the elementary substances, or forms of matter, of which all bodies
are composed, the laws that regulate the combination of these elements in the formation
of compound bodies, and the various phenomena that accompany their exposure to diverse
physical conditions. This area of emphasis is recommended for students who wish to
continue at a four-year college or university as a chemistry major, premedical or
similar major.
