Apply for your degree online by March 7, 2025 to ensure your name will be included in the commencement program. Check your student email after applying. You may apply after March 7, however, your name will not be in the program.
Visit the Pirates Bookstore on the designated times to purchase your commencement regalia (cap, gown, tassel - approx. $60) and receive information on how to download your e-tickets for family and guest.
Student ID or CA ID will be required for pick up.

Honor Cords
Purchase honor cords on-campus at the Pirates Bookstore
Graduates should arrive at the staging area in the MJC Gym located on Coldwell Ave. between 4:30 p.m. & 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025, dressed in their cap, gown, & tassel. Parking is available in Lot 101 or Lot 102.
Gates open at 4:30 p.m. All guests over the age 5 will be required to present an e-ticket for entry. Guests without e-tickets will not be allowed to enter the stadium. Each graduate will receive 7 e-tickets for guests (see step 2).

2025 Commencement Ceremony
East Campus, Pirates' Stadium Ceremony starts at 6:00 p.m.
(Graduates check into the Gym at 4:30 p.m.)

Spring 2025 diplomas will be mailed after July 4th. Graduates will receive information by email approximately 3 weeks prior to mailing.
Students receive honors on their degree when they have at least a 3.5 GPA in all degree applicable courses. (Includes transfer work from other schools). Honors will be noted in the commencement program based on the Fall 2024 GPA. Refer to "Step 2" for information on purchasing honor cords.
Parking is free in all MJC lots. Graduates park in Lot 101 or 102 on Coldwell and College Avenue. ADA parking is available in Parking Lot 108 (ADA Placard required).
Photographs are permitted during the ceremony. Please be mindful of blocking the view of others and remain seated.
Graduates are encouraged to dress up, after all, it's a celebration! Please dress appropriately. Clothing is required under the gown. The ceremony walking path will be on the track and grassy areas. Sunscreen and a flat, low heel or a wedge shoe is recommended. Personal belongings cannot be left in the gym.
Yes, cap decorating is acceptable as long as it is appropriate.
Photographs will be taken as each student crosses the stage. Proofs along with order forms will be emailed to each student 5-7 days following the ceremony. For further questions, please contact Grad Images directly at www.gradimages.com
Balloons, air horns, poppers, cow bells, large signs and umbrellas are not permitted.
Yes. Security will be performing bag checks at the entrance. Weapons, alcohol, and drugs are prohibited on campus.

A ticket will be required to enter the stadium from every guest over the age of 5. Tickets are NOT required for graduates. Replacement tickets will not be issued. Counterfeit tickets will not be accepted.
Bring your Student ID, Driver's License or CA ID card to the Pirates Bookstore (East Campus) to obtain guest and rain e-tickets.
Student who finished or will finish the degree in Fall ’24, Spring ’25, and Summer ’25 can participate.

If your degree application was submitted by March 7, 2025, and you qualify, your name will be listed in the program. If you apply after March 7, you will be able to participate in the ceremony but name will not be listed in the program.
All summer graduates who apply by March 7 will be printed in the program.
Graduates should check in at the Gym (East Campus) at 4:30 p.m. You will be given a card with ceremony instructions. The card will also have a place to write your name. Your name will be announced on stage as it appears on the card.
