
Apply for your degree online by March 6, 2026 to ensure your name will be included in the commencement program. Check your student email after applying for further information. You may apply after March 6th and participate, however, your name will not appear in the program.
Visit the Pirates Bookstore during designated times to purchase your commencement regalia (cap, gown, tassel - approx. $65) and receive information on how to receive and download your 6 e-tickets. Ticket information will also be posted here closer to the event date.

Honor Cords

Graduates: Arrive and check in at the MJC Gym (East Campus) located on Coldwell Ave. at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026, dressed in your cap, gown, & tassel. Parking is available in Lot 101 or Lot 102.
Guests: Gates open at 4:30pm. All guests over the age of 5 will be required to redeem a Hometown e-ticket for entry. Guests without an e-ticket will not be allowed to enter the stadium. Each graduate will be issued six (6) e-tickets
Parking is designated for graduates, guests, and ADA (ADA placard required).
In the event of rain, the commencement ceremony will be held indoors at the West Campus ACE Pavilion. Graduates will line up at the ACE Pavilion at 4:00 p.m. Graduates will be issued two (2) Hometown electronic tickets (e-tickets) for friends and family. The ACE Pavilion has limited seating and e-tickets will be redeemed at the entrance on a first-come, first-served basis until ACE Pavilion is at capacity. If ACE Pavilion reaches capacity, e-ticket holders can watch a live feed of the ceremony online

Spring 2026 diplomas will be mailed after July 3rd. Check your student email for updates on diploma delivery.
Summer 2026 diplomas will be mailed early October.
Students receive honors on their degree when they have at least a 3.5 GPA in all degree applicable courses. (Includes transfer work from other schools.) Honors will be noted in the commencement program based on the Fall 2025 GPA. Refer to “Step 2” for information on purchasing honor cords.
Parking is free in all MJC lots. Graduates park in Lot 101 or 102 on Coldwell Avenue. These lots are designated for graduate parking because of their proximity to the Gym (staging area). ADA parking (ADA placard required) is available in both parking lots.
Photographs are permitted during the ceremony. Please be mindful of blocking the view of others and remain seated.
Graduates are encouraged to dress up, after all, it's a celebration! Please dress appropriately. Clothing is required under the gown. The ceremony walking path will be on the track and grassy areas. Sunscreen and a flat, low heel or a wedge shoe is recommended. Personal belongings cannot be left in the gym.
Yes, cap decorating is acceptable as long as it is appropriate.
Photographs will be taken as each student crosses the stage. Proofs along with order forms will be emailed to each student 5-7 days following the ceremony. For further questions, please contact Grad Images directly at www.gradimages.com
Balloons, air horns, poppers, cow bells, large signs and umbrellas are not permitted.
Yes. Security will be performing bag checks at the entrance. Weapons, alcohol, and drugs are prohibited on campus.
A Hometown electronic ticket (e-ticket) is required for all guests over the age of 5 to attend the 2026 Commencement Ceremony. Six (6) free e-tickets will be issued through Hometown and available to download on mobile devices starting April 27, 2026. Instructions on how to retrieve e-tickets will be published here and available at the Pirates Bookstore starting March 31, 2026. Tickets are NOT required for graduates. Printed tickets will not be issued. Replacement e-ticket will not be issued.
Students who finished or will finish their degree in Fall ‘25, Spring ‘26, and Summer ‘26 can participate.
Yes, each graduate will be allowed 6 Hometown electronic tickets (e-tickets) to distribute amongst friends and family. An e-ticket will be required to enter the stadium for every guest over the age of 5. E-tickets are not required for graduates. (See FAQ’s “Are tickets required?”).

If your degree application was submitted by March 6, 2026, and you have been confirmed for award completion (graduation), your name will be listed in the commencement program. If you apply after March 6th, you will be able to participate in the commencement ceremony but your name will not appear in the program.
Yes, The names of all qualified graduates who apply by March 6th will appear in the printed program.
Graduates should check in at the Gym (East Campus) on Coldwell Ave. at 4:00 p.m. You will be given a card with ceremony instructions. The card will also have a place to write your name. Your name will be announced on stage as it appears on the card.
