Join us on September 20th at 7:30 pm for a presentation from world-traveling ornithologist Sean Lyon. Sean will share his personal path into avian research and his experiences from around the globe. In this talk, he also ponders the intersection of time, history, and our living world through the lens of birds.
Sean Lyon is currently working on his doctorate in Quantitative and Systems Biology at the University of California, Merced. He focuses on the behavioral ecology of southern ground-hornbills in Mozambique. Sean’s enduring curiosity to know more about birds has taken him from Costa Rica to Tanzania, and to museum collections from the Field Museum (Chicago) to the Museum of Vertebrate Zoology (University of California, Berkeley). Beyond researching amazing birds in projects ranging from historical urban development to sustainable practices in subsistence farming, Sean loves to share his passion for birds with the community. If you would like to take a bird walk with Sean or read more about his work, visit Sean's website to learn more
Discussion will take place in Sierra Hall 132. Go to the MAPS homepage for more information to learn more about MAPS and how we partner with scientists and researchers locally.
