The more: the Foundation functions independently from the college with oversight from an independent board complemented by a liaison from the Yosemite Community College District Board of Trustees and the MJC President, who are both members of the Foundation Board of Directors board. The founding leaders envisioned a Foundation that would receive private philanthropic funds to promote, foster, and implement Modesto Junior College programs.
In 2016, the Foundation became the entity on campus that housed scholarships with the majority of scholarship funds combining into the Foundation portfolio in 2017. Since its inception, the Foundation has been the community-facing division on campus stewarding relationships and shepherding the funds our community provides to ensure continuation of the excellent educational and cultural programs our students need.
