Donate to Latina Leadership Network

The Latina Leadership Network (LLN) has partnered with Modesto Junior College Foundation to ensure all donations go to scholarships and celebration of Latinx communities. 

Currently, we are raising money for 2026-2027 Scholarships and our 2026 Annual Chicanx/ Latinx Graduation Celebration.

MJC 9th Annual Chicanx/Latinx Graduation Celebration

The Student Success and Equity Committee, Communidad Affinity Group, and the Latina Leadership Network are proud to announce MJC’s 9th annual Chicanx/Latinx Graduation Celebration! This culturally meaningful bilingual (English/Spanish) event celebrates the accomplishments of students and their support system, which played an important role in their program completion.

We feel thrilled at the opportunity to celebrate you and your accomplishments on Friday, April 17, 2026, from 5:00-8:00 pm at the East Campus Performing Arts Center.   Here’s important information:

Attire:      Business Casual (no cap and gown)  

Speaker:   When your name is called to receive your sarape sash, you have the opportunity to make a 10-second speech at the microphone on stage. Keep your talk brief; we recommend writing your thoughts on a 3x5 card. Speaking is optional, you have the right to pass. You may also invite one person who has supported your academic journey to walk the stage with you, including but not limited to family, friend, or other loved one (optional). 

Note:   Music and refreshments are available from 5-5:45 p.m. and music outside the PAC from 8:00 – 9:00 pm.  

Tickets? No tickets are required. The front rows will be reserved for student graduates and one optional person. Seating for family and friends will be first-come, first-seated.

The Career and Networking series was created to provide students access to powerful community members and be inspired by each speaker's journey to success. These unique opportunities spark motivation and ambition, allowing students the realization that their goals are within reach.

Dr. Janet Nunez - Pineda

Dr. Nunez-Pineda is a California Central Valley native who has served in various professional leadership roles. Most of her career has a trajectory strong on leading efforts related to Family& Community Engagement. Her current position at PIQE is to lead the Statewide Family Engagement Center, a national initiative in partnership with the United States Department of Education's effort to advance capacity, resources and policy related to Family Engagement within Californias Education system.

Monica Escamilla

Monica Escamilla has a background in nonprofit leadership and community engagement. She currently serves as the Program Director for Downtown Streets Team in Stanislaus County, leading efforts to support unhoused individuals through workforce development and housing pathways. Monica is passionated about uplifting diverse voices, mentoring emerging leaders, and fostering spaces where people can thrive - both personally and professionally.
