Since 1921, MJC has provided high quality, affordable career training and university transfer pathways. Generations of community members have begun their educational journeys here. Everywhere I go, I encounter MJC alumni who speak with great pride about their time as MJC Pirates! We offer 175 programs of study, including noncredit and credit certificates, associate degrees, transfer-preparation degrees, and a baccalaureate degree in respiratory care. For some students, one or two courses may be all the training they need for a successful, lifelong career. For others, MJC is the first leg of a longer educational pathway. Whatever your goal is, we stand ready to help you achieve it.
A vital component of your education is building connections with others. Your learning will be deeply enhanced by your relationships with friends, classmates, and others with similar interests. When challenges arise, as they inevitably do, these others will be there to encourage you through it – and you, in turn, can coach your friends through their rough patches. These connections can happen anywhere, from the geology club to acting in a play, from Young Farmers to the Innovation Center, from the musician’s guild to the Parrots club, from forensics (speech) competitions to the athletic field, or in college-sponsored programs like Umoja, MESA, Puente, Rise Up, EOPS, or TRIO. Everyone has a place at MJC! Let us help you find yours – and with it, your confidantes for a rich and rewarding college experience.
Our team is ready to help you. Our instructional faculty are experts in their fields and fantastic teachers. Our counselors, librarians, and tutors support individual student needs as they arise. Our classified professionals serve in a wide variety of roles including directly supporting students, attending to student records and financial aid in the background, supporting laboratories, providing security, and maintaining our facilities and grounds. Our administrative team members provide leadership, planning, and budget oversight to ensure the very best learning environment for our students. Each and every team member is working to help you achieve your goals!
As President, it is my privilege and responsibility to ensure that your needs come first. I strive to help each student thrive. I am committed to our students, committed to our mission, and committed to the communities we serve. I will lead our teams to remove barriers to learning, cut red tape, streamline processes, and ensure your pathways are clear and direct. I am also responsible to ensure quality education, strengthen the college internally, collaborate effectively with others in our district and state, and develop partnerships and programs to serve our community and region.
