The Human Services AA Degree centers around a broad array of entry-level knowledge and skill building needed to effectively work in social services delivery systems. Our program also prepares individuals for transfer to four-year universities, in an effort to pursue degrees in human services, psychology, social work, counseling, sociology, and addiction counseling or other related majors.

The Psychology program at MJC introduces students to the scientific study of human behavior and mental processes in preparation to transfer to a 4-year college or university. Many of our courses are also a great way to satisfy General Education requirements. Sociology is the study of human society and social behavior. Through this program, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of how social institutions, cultural norms, and larger societal structures influence individuals and communities. Our comprehensive curriculum covers topics like social problems, race and ethnic relations, family dynamics, and the workings of social institutions. You’ll learn to apply sociological theories and research methods to analyze and interpret the world around you.

The Associate in Arts in Sociology for Transfer Degree provides you with the essential knowledge to explore these questions and more.  This program offers key lower-division coursework to prepare you for a bachelor’s degree in Sociology.
