Great Orion Nebula

Oct. 18, at 7:30pm in the Sierra Hall, room 132

Galaxies are more than just hundreds of billions of stars; the gas that fills the space between the stars in fact plays a crucial role in determining the fate of a galaxy. Learn more about the interplay between gas and stars, as well as how galaxies “breathe” in a similar way to human respiration! Xinnan Du will also share her journey transitioning from a researcher studying those faraway galaxies to an outreach professional who is still exploring this new career path.

Xinnan Du is a Stanford University Outreach & Engagement Manager and studied at Kavli Institute for Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology.

MAPS (Modesto Area Partners in Science) host several presentations from professionals in the science industry every semester for free. Each discussion is open to the public and takes place in Sierra Hall 132 at 7:30pm. Learn more about MAPS and how we partner with scientists and researchers locally.
