2024 Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration
February 10 at 7pm
For the past 30 years the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration has had a long and distinguished history in our community. It has presented here at Modesto Junior College an array of amazing Civil Rights era leaders as well as current activists who keep alive Dr. King’s message of social and economic justice. Every year, these speakers have regaled their audiences with wisdom, history, contemporary relevance, and as always, a bit of humor.
The 30th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration invites you to join us on Saturday, February 10, 2024. Noted Civil Rights attorney Maya Wiley will be our keynote speaker at Modesto Junior College’s Performing Arts & Media Center, 435 College Ave., Modesto at 7:00 p.m.
She will meet with students in the MJC Little Theatre at 4:00 p.m.
Along with inspirational music and spoken word, the program will also highlight the presentation of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Legacy Award, honoring individuals who have a long history of community service. This year, we will be honoring retired Modesto High School teacher and founder of the Annual Day of Respect, Sharon Froba.
