The first week of classes brought events and activities across MJC's East & West Campus. Current and future MJC students enjoyed food trucks, free swag, live music and more during the two fall flagship events WestFest and Welcome Day.
On Wednesday August 28th, WestFest Music Festival & College Night, welcomed over 2500 students from local high schools, junior highs and the community onto the West Campus Plaza. Early birds received swag bags with MJC gear and food tickets to be used at one of the several food trucks that served throughout the night. WestFesters could visit one of over 50 college tables at College Night and gather info from 4 year universities across California. The main stage featured three talented local bands, Empresa de la M, Funkhaus and Natural Revolution. The music kept the crowds entertained as they ordered food, played lawn games, chatted with friends and browsed the resource tables for helpful services and more swag. Looking forward to next year!
MJC's Welcome Day turned the focus to welcoming current MJC students to the first week of Fall. Welcome Day, August 29th, is an exciting day when offices, departments and academic Schools across campus kick-off the new academic year with tables in the quad where they can share their areas of study, services and resources with students. Petey and Penelope, the MJC mascots, posed for selfies and greeted all the passersby as they meandered through the dozens of booths. This event provides the opportunity to get involved and find new ways to make the most of the college experience. Dozens of volunteers, staff and faculty headed out to the East Campus Quad to offer a smiling face to almost 2000 students and provided help wherever needed. Welcome to Fall 2024 Pirates!
