Join us for Welcome Week 2024, August 26th-29th. Get to know the friendly faces and welcoming spaces of MJC

 

Welcome to a new academic year at the Modesto Junior College! Whether you're new to campus or gearing up for graduation, we hope you'll join us for fun and free student activities during Welcome Week 2024.

The first week of Fall is an exciting time for ALL students at MJC! Offices, departments and academic schools across campus kick-off the new academic year with events and activities that provide students the opportunity to get involved and find new ways to make the most of your college experience. Welcome to the Pirate family!

Welcome Week Activities

Aug. 26th & 27th: ASMJC Student Activities Expo & Support Services 

9am - 1pm | East and West Campus Quad
Welcome MJC Pirates! Meet the Associated Students of MJC (ASMJC) and Campus Clubs on the East and West Campus quads. Come play games, network, get some swag, and find numerous ways to get involved on campus! Meet representatives from campus clubs, student organizations and student support services who are committed to providing you with the best college experience and helping you complete your goals. Fun, music, food, and give-a-ways (first come, first serve).

Aug. 28th: FLOW Kickoff!

10am - 2pm | East and West Campus
Join the crowd and receive the first Free Lunch On Wednesday (FLOW)! Every Wednesday, students with the Student Activities Sticker, are eligible to receive a meal on ASMJC. 

August 28th: Transfer Day

9am-2pm | East Campus
An opportunity for MJC transfer students to visit with 4-year college and university representatives.

West Fest Music Festival & College Night

West Campus Plaza  | August 28 | 4pm - 8pm
Open to MJC students, high school students, junior high school students, parents and the community. 

4 pm: Registration Opens

Check in for free swag and food truck tix! 

  • Starting at 4pm at the check in table in the West Campus Plaza. Collect your MJC swag and food truck tix with proof of registration. (Giveaway supplies are limited and will be given out on a first come, first served basis.)

4:30 pm: Campus Tours Begin

  • Starting every hour 45 min beginning at 4:30 pm.
  • Check in at the Elk statue outside the Science & Community Center 5 minutes before your tour start time. (Tour Start times 4:30, 5:15, 6:00, 6:45, 7:30pm)
    • TOUR 1: MJC School of Agriculture (Driving Tour)
    • TOUR 2: MJC School of Industry & Trades
    • TOUR 3: MJC School of  Health Professions 

5 pm-7 pm: College Night

Explore your educational options and visit with over 50 reps from the UC and CSU college systems.

All MJC students welcome! 

8 am: Registration Opens

Information Booth located on the small stage in the East Campus Quad

  • Register to receive your MJC Student Swag Bag 
  • Grab a Ticket for Lunch & a Sweet Treat

9:00 am: Resource Fair

Resource Fair 

East Campus Quad
Resource fair will close at 2:00 pm

Visit over 50 booths to gather info and freebies from campus programs, activities and community organizations. This is a great opportunity to learn about all the resources available to you as an MJC student.

9:45 am: Student Welcome Rally

Center of East Campus Quad
Rally will conclude by 10:00am. 

  • Meet MJC leadership & ASMJC Student officers. 
  • Welcome from MJC President, Dr. Brian Sanders
  • Get involved in campus activities & opportunities.

10:00 am: Music & Live Radio Station Broadcase

10 am - 1:00 pm: Campus Tours

Information Booth, East Campus in front of the Student Center
Tours run every 45 minutes. Last tour leaves at 1:00pm

11:30 am - 2 pm: Lunch for all students!

Food Trucks and Booths in the East Campus Quad

  • Food Trucks, Food Booths & Dessert Vendors. Free to all current MJC students.

Volunteers Needed

Want to be a part of these exciting events? We need your help! All new and current students are invited to get involved in campus life as a volunteer.
