Counseling

Claudia Ramirez

MJC MESA is very lucky to have the support of a designated MESA Counselor, Claudia Ramirez. Claudia  has been at MJC for 24 years. She started her MJC career as a mentor for the Choose Success Program where she worked with at-risk youth in South Modesto.

She then worked in the MJC Career Development & Transfer Center (now the MJC Transfer Center) for 12 years. Soon after, she became the Faculty Counselor/Coordinator (Program Director) for the federally-funded program, MJC TRIO Student Support Services, for almost 10 years.

Having grown up between the US and Mexico City and gone through community college herself, Claudia understands the challenges that first generation college students face and is passionate about helping them reach their goals.

By joining MESA as our designated counselor Claudia is making a full circle in her career. While she was an undergraduate student at MJC and Stan State in the 1990’s Claudia worked as the MESA Director’s Assistant. This experience helped her discover her passion for student success.

Claudia splits her time between MESA and the MJC Puente Project. Claudia will be on West Campus on Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout the Fall and Spring semesters. MESA students are able to book online counseling appointments with Claudia, please use the link provided. MESA counseling appointments. Please note, these counseling appointments are for MESA students only. Do not book a counseling appointment before first going through your MESA intake appoinment.
