Steps to Join ASC

  • Enroll for college at MJC.EDU and you will receive a student ID number.
  • Return your completed ASC application packet to the ASC office in East Campus or email it to mjcasc@yosemite.edu.
  • A licensed professional must have signed your Verification of Disability located in the application packet.
  • An IEP or 504 Plan from your school is acceptable verification of disability.

After you have turned in your application

  • Wait 3 to 5 days for processing.
  • We will call you to schedule an appointment and email you our Welcome letter with links to useful information.

What to do next

  • Go to MJC.EDU and in the search box type ASC. You will so much useful information in the ASC webpage.
  • If you need help paying for your education expenses, contact the Financial Aid office or call 209-575-7719 (main number).

When do you need to be seen by a counselor?

  • Once a semester to update your accommodations form (NAS).
  • To complete an Educational Plan or update an Educational Plan.
  • Any time you are requesting a change in your accommodations.
  • When you have questions/concerns, need to select classes, or need an advocate for your rights as an ASC student.

Your Responsibilities as a ASC Student

  • Stay current with ASC policies and procedures, located on the MJC.EDU website on the ASC webpage, which are listed below.
  • Know ASC accommodated testing policies and procedures.
  • Know the difference between accommodations in high school and in college.
  • Follow the student code of conduct.
  • Know your rights located in the ASC Handbook.
  • Know the late policy for appointments / no more than 5 minutes for a 30-minute appointment and 10 minutes for a 1-hour appointment.

Know that voter registration is accessible to all.

Voter’s Registration Statement:

Provisions of the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 Section 7 requires states to offer voter registration opportunities at all offices that provide public assistance and all offices that provide state-funded programs primarily engaged in providing services to persons with disabilities. Each applicant for any of these services, renewal of services, or address changes must be provided with a voter registration form of a declination form as well as assistance in completing the form and forwarding the completed application to the appropriate state or local election official.
