Equal Access Commitment

The mission of the Accommodations and Support Center (ASC) at Modesto Junior College is to provide students with disabilities access to postsecondary education through supportive services and/or instruction as well as promote better understanding of the needs of individuals with disabilities. “The ASC Program provides support services, specialized instruction and educational accommodations to students with disabilities so they can participate as fully and benefit as equitably from the college experience, as their non-disabled peers” (Chancellor’s Office for Community Colleges ASC Home page mission statement).

Service Area Outcomes (SAO)

1. ASC students will understand the accommodations and services available for them.

Support Service Learning Outcomes (SSLO)

1. ASC students will be able to identify and utilize effective accommodations, including technology, to complete their goals.

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

Educational institutions are required to provide reasonable accommodations to qualified students with disabilities to ensure they have an equal opportunity to participate in and benefit from educational programs. The ADA for education aims to create an inclusive educational environment by removing barriers and providing necessary supports to students with disabilities.

California Community Colleges Accessibility Center

The CCC Accessibility Center provides comprehensive guidance and technical support to help colleges create and maintain an accessible technology environment. This includes a wide range of services and resources aimed at ensuring that all students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities, can effectively use and benefit from the college's technological offerings.
