The MJC Associate’s Degree Program in Respiratory Care is a two-year program designed to prepare students for entry into the practice of Respiratory Care. Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible to take the National Board of Respiratory Care Therapist Multiple Choice Examination and the Clinical Simulations Examination allowing them to practice respiratory care nationally. Graduates are also eligible to apply for licensure with the State of California through the Respiratory Care Board for California. The Respiratory Care Program of Modesto Junior College is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC). Teachers and administrators of funded child development programs in the State of California must hold permits issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. All certificates align with the permits issued by the State of California, Commission on Teacher Credentialing. An A.A.-T in Social Work and Human Services for Transfer Degree from Modesto Junior College is intended for students who are interested in transferring to a California State University (CSU) campus with a major in Social Work and Human Services, or similar major. The program is designed to prepare students for the A.A.-T in Social Work and Human Services degree. The Social Work and Human Services A.A.-T Degree centers around a broad array of entry-level knowledge and skill building needed to effectively work in social services delivery systems. Our program also prepares individuals for transfer to four-year universities, to pursue degrees in Social Work and Human Services, Psychology, Counseling, Sociology, Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Addiction Counseling or other related majors. Students completing an A.A.-T degree are guaranteed admission to the CSU system, but not to a particular campus or major. Students transferring to a CSU campus that accepts the A.A.-T will be required to complete no more than 60 units after transfer to earn a bachelor's degree. This degree may not be the best option for students intending to transfer to a particular CSU campus or university or a college that is not part of the CSU system. Students should consult with a Modesto Junior College transfer counselor for further information on university admissions and transfer requirements. A grade of "C" or better, or "Pass" if the course is taken on a Pass/No Pass basis, is required for each course applied to the major. Major course requirements may also be applied to meet general education requirements.

The Associate in Arts for Transfer (AAT) degree provides the required lower-division coursework for students majoring or minoring in Spanish. The foundational course of study will prepare students seeking to transfer to four-year institutions, and it will provide instruction for students seeking language skills for professional and personal development. Proficiency in Spanish is a vital skill in various career fields, such as: education, interpreting, health care, child care, and business. Beyond the immediate practical advantages of learning Spanish, there is also the profound personal enrichment that comes from understanding the diverse cultures and linguistic variations within the Spanish-speaking world. To fulfill the Spanish AAT Degree, students will complete 19 -23 units of required courses in the major, with a minimum of 60 units total required for the degree. Students are advised to select a path of study: A) Second Language Learner of Spanish Path: Designed for students who are not Native/ Heritage speakers that seek to develop a solid foundation in the Spanish language. Students are advised to start at Spanish 101, followed by Spanish 102, 103*, and 110**, and one elective course from List A to complete the required units for the major. If possible, the List A course selected should be Spanish 112* or Spanish 173*. B) Native/Heritage Spanish-speaking Learner Path: Designed for students who already speak Spanish -to varying degrees- that seek to build on their existing foundation. Students are advised to start at Spanish 109, followed by Spanish 110, using List A elective courses to complete the required minimum units for the major. It is strongly recommended that one of these elective courses be Spanish 112 or Spanish 173. Students are advised to consult with an MJC Counselor for additional information and to verify transfer requirements. * SPA 103, SPA 112, and SPA 173 are only offered in the Fall semester. ** SPA 110 is only offered in the Spring semester.
