Campaigns and events have the freedom to explore colors, artwork, graphic elements, and type treatments not listed in the brand guide. Events and campaigns have short life-spans and trendy approaches for public appeal, and have flexibility in how they are marketed.

All campaigns and events funded and hosted by the college must use the primary MJC logo on all materials and link back to the college.

Campaigns including partnerships and initiatives are subject to oversight from the Office of Marketing and Public Relations to ensure alignment with the Brand Guide.

Promotional Items

All MJC promotional materials must feature the primary logo or wordmark regardless of the item type.

The main purpose for promotional items is to promote the college and its services. As such, all items (even ones created for short-term events) must visually represent Modesto Junior College.

Evergreen items that feature parent branding will follow guidelines outlined in this document, but event specific items can explore creative solutions unique to their campaign artwork.

Please note that due to production limitations for certain mediums (such as embroidery) alterations to logos, type, and other brand assets may be necessary to ensure high quality production. Consult with the Office of Marketing and Public Relations on collaborating with your vendor(s) to ensure all artwork is optimized correctly for production.

Always keep in mind how your promotional items will be used. The branding most appropriate for your item is often dependent on how the item in question will be used. Size, saturation, printing medium, minimum and maximum size requirements, etc. will all inform what is the correct solution.

Vendor Compliance

Why vendor compliance matters

The purpose of vendor brand compliance is to ensure that internal and external vendors adhere to a company's established brand standards and guidelines, guaranteeing that the products, services, and messaging they provide align with the company's brand image, maintaining consistency and protecting the brand's reputation across all customer interactions.

Ensuring that vendors adhere to the institution’s guidelines and standards is essential for the consistent image and messaging of the college and to minimize potential risks.

Vendor Obligations

Modesto Junior College (MJC) will establish legal agreements (contracts) with external vendors, outlining brand standards and requirements that the vendor must adhere to, ensuring they operate and produce materials and products in accordance with MJC’s brand guidelines.

If print materials or promotional products are non-compliant with college brand standards, they may need to be reprinted at the originating department’s expense.

Vendor Compliance Program (Pilot)

Beginning February 2025, MJC will pilot the vendor compliance program with the vendors listed on the Preferred Vendor List. Vendors participating in the pilot program are contractually obligated to adhere to college brand standards. Any artwork in question will be subject to approval by MJC Marketing. In most cases, ordering with preferred vendors will expedite the artwork approval and ordering timeline. School representatives will be able to add items to vendor storefronts on request.

Utilizing Preferred Vendors

  1. Browse products in the online storefront or contact a vendor from the Preferred Vendor List. (Contact vendor for any additions to the online storefront.)
  2. Submit a REQ for the cost of selected items. (Include tax and shipping if applicable.)
  3. Once PO# is received, submit the order in the online storefront (including the PO#) or send the PO# to the selected vendor by phone or email  to place order.
  4. Vendor will prepare proof with approved artwork supplied by MJC and send it to client for approval. (Any artwork in question will be subject to approval by MJC Marketing and Public Relations.)
  5. PO will be verified for validity and artwork approval will be required by the vendor before placing order.
  6. Vendor will provide order status updates by email once order is placed.
