Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC) and Low Textbook Cost (LTC) Courses have saved MJC students thousands of dollars, increasing student access and promoting student success through the use of Open Educational Resources (OER) and other instructional materials. Generally, required course learning resources are provided to students, usually using digital resources, in place of a traditional textbook at no cost. (Note: Some course materials fees, such as a calculator or art supplies, may still exist even in a ZTC course.)

Why should I take a ZTC course?

  • Save money! High textbook costs can be a barrier to success. ZTC removes this barrier.
  • Have your textbook as soon as courses start! No more waiting for financial aid before you can begin course work. ZTC course materials are available to you right at the beginning of the semester.
  • Learn on the go with digital resources, or choose to print if you want a hard copy.

What are Low Textbook Cost (LTC) courses?

A Low Textbook Cost (LTC) course is one for which the materials for the course cost $35 or less. Starting Summer 2022, the LTC Logo will be available in Class Search for courses with materials with a $35 or less cost.
