About the Program
The MJC Pharmacy Technician Program is an advanced program. The Program consists
of required class sessions, hands on simulation labs and externships. Students must pass drug screen and background check to enroll in the program and be
placed in externship site.
Classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, to allow working students the
opportunity to train for a new career. Online instruction will also be part of the
program. This is a 10-12 month program with no semester breaks.
Program Requirements
Must be 18 years of age or older to apply
Must possess a High School Diploma or a GED Certificate
Must possess a Social Security Number
Pass the Pharmaceutical Calculations Math Exam
Meet the Reading Requirement
Have a clean Background Check and Drug Screening
Students will be required to provide proof of immunization and health clearance prior
to starting externships. Immunization MUST include all current COVID-19 vaccinations
available.
You must provide documentation with your application that you have met the reading
requirement. This can be done as follows:
Previously taken the MJC Reading Accuplacer test and place at English 100 or higher,OR
Have taken MJC English 100 or higherAND passed with a grade of C or better, OR
Have an AA degree or higher from a U.S. college/university OR
Take the MJC Guided Self Placement Test for English and receive a score of 4 or higher. Please note: You must have a current MJC student ID number and MJC email address to take this
test. If you do not have a current MJC student ID number you will need to apply for admission to MJC to receive a student ID number. Once you have received an ID number you will need
to activate your MJC email address.
Modesto Junior College's Pharmacy Technician Program is an ASHP Advanced-Level accredited
