Financial Aid Applications
To apply for financial aid, students must complete ONE of two financial aid applications.  Either the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act Application (CADAA).

Key things to remember when applying 

    • Only ONE application is required (FAFSA or CADAA)
    • Remember to list Modesto Junior College school code 001240
    • Complete a new application EACH academic year
    • Apply on time (view dates by clicking on the academic year below)

Important Information

Failure to Submit Required Documents

Students who do not submit required documents to the Student Financial Services Office forfeit their aid for the award year.  In certain cases, students must return any aid funds already received for the year.

Dates and Deadlines for Fall 2024, Spring 2025 & Summer 2025 

  • December 2023:  2024/2025 FAFSA & CADAA Application Available
    • 2024-2025 FAFSA is available
    • 2024-2025 CADAA is available for AB540 students who are undocumented and not U.S. Citizens
  • March 4, 2024:  Primary State Financial Aid Deadline
    • Deadline to submit a Cal Grant GPA Verification to the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC). GPA’s will be calculated and transmitted automatically for eligible college students.
  • May 2, 2024:  Extended Cal Grant Deadline
    • Deadline to file a completed FAFSA for Entitlement and primary Competitive Cal Grants.
    • Deadline to submit a California Dream Act Application for Cal Grant Entitlement award consideration.
  • August 2024:  Awarding of Federal and campus based funds
    • Awarding Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) and FederalWork Study (FWS) for the 2024-2025 year to eligible students with a complete financial aidfile. FSEOG and FWS funds are limited. If funds remain after awarding students, thecolleges will continue to make awards on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • September 3, 2024:  Secondary State Financial Aid Deadline
    • 2nd Competitive Cal Grant opportunity for California Community College students only.
    • CSAC must receive your GPA Verification and you must file a FAFSA by this date for Cal Grant consider.
  • December 13, 2024:  24/25 FAFSA Deadline (Fall Enrollment Only)
    • Deadline to submit 2024-2025 FAFSA for students who last attended Fall 2024. 
  • March 14, 2025:  24/25 Verification Documents Deadline (Fall Enrollment Only)
    • Deadline to submit 2024-2025 Verification Documents to MJC for students who last attended Fall 2024. Date must be adjusted if the last day enrolled is prior to end of the semester, such as in a withdrawal.
  • May 2, 2025:  24/25 FAFSA Deadline (Spring Enrollment Only)
    • Deadline to submit 2024-2025 FAFSA for students who last attended Spring 2025.
  • June 30, 2025:  24/25 FAFSA Deadline (Must Enroll in Summer) & Paper CCPG Fee Waiver Application. 
    • FAFSA: Deadline to submit 2024-2025 FAFSA for Summer 2025 grants which is valid only for students attending Summer term.
    • Paper CCPG: Last day to submit the 2024-2025 California College Promise Grant paper application.
  • July TBD, 2025:  24/ 25 Verification Documents Deadline (Spring / Summer Enrollment Only) 
    • Deadline to submit 2024-2025 Verification Documents to MJC for students who last attended
      • Spring 2025 and/or
      • Summer 2025
    • Date must be adjusted if the last day enrolled is prior to end of the semester, such as in a withdrawal.
