Faculty mail is sorted into their School mailbox.
Major departments/offices (i.e., Enrollment Services, YCCD, Vice Presidents, President, Business office, Financial Aid.) mailboxes are located in the “General Offices” section in the mailrooms.
Classified staff mail is sorted into the division/department mailbox that they work in.
Mail is distributed into East Campus mailboxes by 10:00 am and West Campus mailboxes by 12:00 pm.
Please have in the East Campus mailroom by 1:30 pm to guarantee it’s processing that business day. West Campus deadline is 11:00 am
Please place outgoing mail to be metered in designated mailbox. Mail is metered and sent out at 1:00 pm Tuesday/Thursday.
Please place “Pre-Stamped” outgoing mail into the slot located in each mailroom. Outgoing mail is picked up daily and goes out with the metered mail at 2pm.
All Inter-District and Inter-Campus mail gets distributed daily. Mail will need to be in the mailrooms by 10:00 am to guarantee same day delivery to District and the opposite mailroom.
Place personal mail in the “Pre-Stamped” outgoing mailbox located in each mailroom. Please note that we cannot add postage to your personal mail.
All outgoing envelopes must have the MJC return address and Department name along with “Return Service Requested” stamped or printed on the envelope below the return address OR “Current Resident” must be above the recipient’s name for the mail to stay at the recipient address and not returned to us with an updated address.
Mailings with 200 pieces or more, that are identical, generic and not a solicitation for money must go bulk mail. Contact the mailroom staff for instructions on how to prepare a bulk mailing.
Flats/large envelopes (manila) should be sealed and marked “First Class” (or other desired mailing rate). These envelopes cannot contain any metal clasps, staples or paperclips in them.
Leave all envelopes with flaps down on regular/standard size envelopes for processing by the postage machine.
If you receive a package and it is too large to fit in your mailbox we will put a pink slip on your mailbox notifying that “You have a package in the cabinet” or “Next to the cabinet” Please get your packages from those designated areas in each mailroom.
East Campus Mailroom is staffed from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday-Friday. West Campus Mailroom is not staffed but personnel goes to the West Campus Mailroom around 11:30 am to 12:00 pm to distribute and pick up mail.
