The Classified Senate serves as the elected representative and advisory entity for classified professionals at MJC. It offers a formalized platform for communication and representation between classified employees and the college community, ensuring their input in the continuous evolution and execution of State, district, college, and community initiatives, objectives, and strategies. This entity advocates for itself within the college community and administration, particularly in areas concerning participatory governance, staff development, and recognition.

Goals of the Classified Senate
  1. Be a voice for classified professionals on matters outside of union representation.
  2. Facilitate classified professionals' involvement in shared governance processes.
  3. Cultivate an environment of communication, comprehension, and solidarity among classified professionals.
  4. Serve as a conduit for communication between classified professionals and the college community.
  5. Disseminate information regarding Senate initiatives and pertinent topics to the college community.
  6. Enhance the perception of professionalism and the significance of classified professionals within the institution.

California Community Colleges Classified Senate (4CS)

4CS is a non-profit organization, formed by the California Community College’s classified professionals to serve as the statewide classified senate.  4CS supports the leadership roles of classified professionals in the governance of the California Community College System through development and support of local senates, advocating increased involvement at the state level, and promoting leadership skills among classified professionals.
