Modesto Junior College
Due to ongoing poor air quality, Modesto Junior College will remain closed on Monday, November 19. All classes and extracurricular activities on campus are cancelled during this time. A decision will be made regarding the campus status for Tuesday, November 20 by Monday at 3pm. Students can visit the website or check their emails for ongoing updates.

About Us:

The Modesto Junior College (MJC) Upward Bound/TRIO program is designed to help students stay in school, improve their grades, graduate from high school and go to college.

The Upward Bound program offers academic support, college preparation services, tutoring and motivation to succeed.

How can I sign up?

  1. Complete an Upward Bound application, which can be found in the counseling office of the participating schools or the link at the bottom of this page
  2. Complete a personal statement or autobiography
  3. Get a recommendation from a school official (teacher, counselor, or principal)
  4. Return the completed application to your counselor

How do I qualify or am I eligible?

  1. Low income, according to the guidelines established by the U.S. Department of Education
  2. Potential first-generation college student
  3. Enrollment in one of the participating high schools or target area
  4. Demonstrate academic potential and personal motivation to succeed in high school and college
  5. U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
