It may take 24-48 hours for access to Starfish after receiving your w# (student ID)
*If the class has already started, you will need to email the faculty to request an Add Authorization.
Submit your plan for approval so a counselor can review & approve, which will also meet that Core Step for Priority Registration!
Schedule an appointment during the semester with a counselor to complete or review your Comprehensive Education Plan
Please make sure to have Steps 1-3 of the “Getting Started at MJC” completed before using this service.
If the link is "greyed" out and will not let you join, check back periodically in the day as it will be deactived during high wait times.
Limited to services/questions that typically take a maximum of 15-20 minutes to complete/answer for example:
- Abbreviated Ed Plans (1 semester education plan/core step)
- Application for degree
- Course pre-requisite challenge support
You will be placed on the first come, first served drop-in list in which a Counselor will call you when you are next in line. Please do not close or logout of the system until a Counselor contacts you.
If you have a preferred Counselor (not guaranteed), please be sure to mention the Counselor’s name in the “additional details” section in the system.

- Comprehensive Ed Plans (3 or more semester education plan)
- Financial Aid Appeals Support
- Career/Major/Transfer Exploration Support
If you have a preferred Counselor (not guaranteed to be available), please be sure to select them in the “Counselor Name” section in the system. For appointments using Zoom having access to a webcam, speakers, internet access and microphone is optimal.
